Itinerary

Day 1: Mexico City

Bienvenidos a la Ciudad de Mexico - the largest city in Latin America where ancient and modern coexist in harmony. The city is a world-class cultural hub that offers a huge variety of museums, galleries, and architectural gems, along with bustling nightlife and diverse gastronomic culture. Arrive on Saturday or some days before and take your time to explore this diverse city before meeting your group and Tour Leader on Saturday evening: welcome meeting, optional dinner & get-together with the rest of the group.

Day 2: Mexico City

Join your group & start our "Mexico: History, Tequila & Pacific" tour with a walking tour around the historic center (Metropolitan Cathedral, Zocalo, National Palace and Museum of Anthropology), then choose by yourself what to do next in this diverse city - your Tour Leader will be happy to give suggestions. Optional dinner & get-together with the group in the evening.

Day 3: Mexico City - Queretaro - San Miguel de Allende

In the morning, go to Querétaro - one of the most representative examples of Spanish Colonial cities in Mexico with a compact historical center with buildings from the 16th, 17th, and 18th centuries that give us an idea of what life was like in those times. Afterward, continue to San Miguel de Allende (UNESCO) - a small city with a huge cultural heritage and a cosmopolitan population that preserves its true colonial feeling. Walking tour, check-in, optional dinner & get-together with the rest of the group in San Miguel de Allende.

Day 4: San Miguel de Allende - Zacatecas

After breakfast, go to Zacatecas, a colonial treasure declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its architecture, urban layout, and the irregular alignment of its streets. Upon arrival join a walking tour around the historic center. In the afternoon, take a ride in a cable car, connecting the Cerro de la Bufa to the Cerro del Grillo and offers you an unmatched view of the beautiful city. In the evening, opt to join an optional dinner & get-together in one of the local restaurants/bars.

Day 5: Zacatecas - La Quemada - Guadalajara

In the morning, go to La Quemada - the ruins of the ancient civilization that are a unique treasure full of secrets yet to be unveiled. Free yourself from skepticism and get lost in the labyrinthine walls of what, some claim, are the ruins of Chicomoztoc, the legendary Place of the Seven Caves that gave asylum to the Mexica on their journey from the mythical Aztlan in search of the promised land.

Afterward, continue our "Mexico: History, Tequila & Pacific" tour going to Guadalajara - one of the largest cities in Mexico and a cultural epicenter of the region. Explore the avenues and alleys of the historic center, stop in front of the Metropolitan Cathedral, which combines neoclassical, baroque, and gothic styles. Follow your Trip Leader and see top cultural and historic attractions of this beautiful city. In the evening, opt to join an optional dinner in one of the local restaurants.

Day 6: Guadalajara - Tequila - Sayulita

In the morning, go to Tequila - a place where a world-famous drink comes from. The volcano of Tequila extends its arms to embrace this colorful "Magical Town". It is a land of blue-gold that rises from the foot of the Río Grande Canyon and the landscape of agave crops that was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2006.

After visiting one of the local tequilerias ("tequila factory"), a tour around the town and optional lunch, continue to Sayulita - a laid-back "Magic Town" on the Pacific coast that provides a breath of multiculturalism with an atmosphere similar of the sixties: peace & love, harmony with nature and a friendly & relaxed environment. Surfing is one of the main attractions of this fishing tradition town, to which fishing enthusiasts come from all around the world, as in a sacred date, with their surfboards on their backs, their golden skin, and their passion for the sea waters.

Day 7: Sayulita

Relax on the beach, surf, or take on an optional day tour to Islas Marietas (UNESCO), one of the most important wildlife sanctuaries in Mexico’s Pacific coast formed long ago by volcanic activity. In the evening, join an optional dinner & get-together in one of the local restaurants/bars.

Day 8: Sayulita 

Free program: be lazy or active, it's up to you. Relax on the beach sipping a refreshing cocktail, surf, snorkel, help to release saved turtles in a local turtle camp, take a jungle hike, bike or ride a horse on a secluded beach, etc.  In the evening, join an optional dinner & get-together in one of the local restaurants/bars.

Day 9: Sayulita - Morelia

In the morning, after breakfast, we will go to the last destination of our trip - Morelia. Known as the "City of the Pink Stone", this UNESCO-listed city is home to numerous Baroque and Neoclassical monuments.  Accommodation, walking tour, optional farewell dinner & get-together with the rest of the group in Morelia.

Logistics

  • ARRIVAL & DEPARTURE: This tour does not include airport pick & dropoff. The best way to arrive at our accommodation in Mexico City is by taxi/car-hauling services like Uber or public transport (more information on this topic will be sent with trip notes).
  • ACCOMMODATIONS: We will send you an exact list of accommodations together with trip notes 2 weeks before the departure date. All accommodations are centrally located, tourist-class, locally-owned properties with private facilities in each room. We can arrange pre- & post-tour accommodations but not earlier than 2 weeks before the departure when we send you final trip notes. 
  • ROOM TYPES:
    • Shared Twin Room: Single bed in a twin room shared with another co-traveler of the same gender. This option is specifically designed for solo travelers and applies just to group departures.
    • Double/Twin Room: Private room for 2 people. You can choose between 1 double bed or 2 single beds.
    • Triple Room: Private room for 3 people. It normally has 1 double bed for 2 people and 1 single bed for 1 person.
    • Quad Room: Private room for 4 people. It normally has 2 double beds for 2 people each.

  • PHYSICAL CONDITION: This tour involves a decent amount of walking. Therefore, travelers should have moderate physical fitness condition.
  • ACTIVITIES: Participation in all activities is optional - just be sure to be in time for daily departures.
  • WHAT TO TAKE WITH YOU: Comfortable clothes & shoes; a small backpack for daily tours; hat/cap, sunglasses & sunscreen; travel insurance; good mood & curiosity.
  • PRICING: The price of the tour/person depends on the number of travelers & room option you choose. 
  • GROUP VS. PRIVATE TOUR: Group Tour: take a trip with other travelers. Private Tour: take a trip on your own, with friends, couple, or family. While offering more privacy and exclusivity such tours may cost more than group ones.
